Forest & Conservation Specialist
We’re seeking a skilled communicator with a background and passion in farming and forestry to be a technical mentor to apprentices on Woolbank’s 16-acre working conservation farm. The Forest & Conservation Specialist will be responsible for demonstrating the principles of agroecology, overseeing agroforestry implementation, and mentoring apprentices on the technical knowledge therein.

An ideal candidate for this position is technically skilled with agroforestry and conservation planning topics, and is a well-rounded communicator who possesses basic and sufficient ecological knowledge—including forest ecosystems, riparian health, grassland and pasture management . You should have a willingness to learn and continuously develop your skills in these areas, as Woolbank will provide paid certification training in these disciplines. This position collaborates closely with the Farm Apprentice Manager and Executive Director to ensure the scope of work aligns with apprentice competency level. The Forest & Conservation Specialist will be the apprentices’ primary technical mentor for ecology basics, ecosystem services, agroforestry implementation, and environmental assessments to successfully complete their term.
This is a 2-year, grant-funded, primarily remote position with regular regional travel, in-person workdays, and 2 annual cross-state conferences. Annual Salary is $60,000. Employees are required to live in Pennsylvania or within 40 miles of Conneautville, PA Employees must comply with Woolbank’s remote employee policies.
